WATERCOLOURS

Artist's statement

” My passion for animals and nature blends with my desire of creating. They are my greatest sources of inspiration.

With my art, I wish to create emotions, share a feeling and let love for my subjects showing through.

Although my paintings may be quite detailed, I like to work in a loose style, capturing the essence of what I represent.

Art can be more exciting and beautiful than reality and I like how watercolour plays a great role on it, being an active part of the painting process on its own, sometimes creating its magic.

Other than the joy of creating, I love giving my little contribution to wildlife conservation charities to help animals through the sale of some of my pieces”.

About Silvia

Silvia Fossaluzza is a contemporary watercolour artist based in Italy.

Although Silvia did an artistic school at a young age, she started to approach and love the watercolour technique many years after, with her favorite artist and teacher, developing through the last years her own expressive style of painting.

technique

Silvia has been inspired by some of the most atmospheric and loose contemporary watercolour artists.

Following her teacher’s lessons, she started to paint without pencil drawing, in favor of a more free and exciting painting process.

In contrast with Silvia’s previous “pencil only” drawings, that characterized her form of art since the childhood, she found this method of painting very natural and spontaneous to embrace.

exhibitions

In 2024 and 2023, her works COMFORTABLE? and MILO have been published as a finalist in Splash 25 and Splash 24-The Best of Watercolor, an Artist’s Network special edition magazine.

In 2024, 2023, 2022 her works MY WORLD FROM ABOVE, THROUGH THEIR EYES and THE EYES OF THE TIGER have been selected as finalist for the exhibition of Sketch for Survival by the UK charity Explorers Against Extinction, placed in London and Edinburgh.

In 2022, her works WHALE DANCE and UNDER THE AFRICAN SUN have been included in the online exhibition by the UK charity Artists for Painted Dogs.
